BJ Armstead is a fierce advocate for student-athlete mental health, shaped by his own powerful journey. A survivor of two suicide attempts during high school, BJ knows firsthand the silent battles athletes often fight behind the scenes. His mission is clear: no athlete should suffer in silence.
A proud Morehouse graduate, BJ holds dual master’s degrees in Social Work and Sport Psychology, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a focus on mental health in sports. As a Certified Mental Performance Mastery Coach and Life Coach, BJ blends clinical training with cultural understanding to support athletes where it matters most—mentally, emotionally, and holistically.
He is also the founder of Apollo Sports Counseling, where he equips athletes with the tools to thrive under pressure, build resilience, and redefine strength on their own terms.
BJ’s life work is rooted in this truth:
🖤 Mental wellness is strength. Vulnerability is leadership. And every athlete deserves both.
